Rogue Leveling Guide
Whether you are seasoned veteran or you just starting your journey in the world of warcraft world, you are certainly aware of class diversity that this game offers. In this short rogue leveling guide we will take a closer look at the Rouge Class and how we can use it to our advantage. During development of your rouge character there are some important things you should think through, like what stats to invest in, what weapons to use - daggers or maybe hack'n'slash, as in swords and axes - what talents to develop and finally devise some effective attack tactics and rotations. During rest of this rogue leveling guide we will focus on how to make a killing machine out of your rouge character.
If you are looking for a full step by step solution and you don't like to think about all the details yourself, consider one of power leveling guides that give you specific action steps throughout the entire game.

Which stats to focus on
You probably know, that rouge is very good at DPS, but to make it high you should know which stats to invest in, let's have a closer look on what to focus our attention on:
Attack Power (AP) - it's straigth add to damage, this is on of the most importanat ones for rougues, what it does it lets you hit harder and this is always a good thing. Before you get to Armor Penetration, focus more on AP than on Agility.
Hit Rating - affects your hit caps, remember that precision increases your chance to hit with weapons and poisons attack. Always aim for 5/5 Precision, regardless of your build.
Agility - as we mentioned earlier this stat isn't as imprtant as AP, it does increase critical strike chance, however, poisons don't gain from this increase, so AP is rather better choice.
Armor Penetration - this stat "removes" armor from your enemies and increases damage against them. The more of it the better and also the less armor your opponent has the greater is your benefit from this stat.
Haste Rating - problem with haste is it's scalability, becuase the more you get of it, the less valuable each point becomes. Also each point of haste decreases your Auto Attack speed, but less than the previous one. Haste tends to increase DPS more at higher gear level, often more than Critical Rating. But to confirm that you will need to check with more detailed guide.
Critical Rating - it's always fun to inflict all those big number hits, however, the DPS this rating gives isn't as good as in case of AP or Agility. But feel free to stack it at lower gear levels.
Expertise - this one reduces your target's chance of dodging or parrying your attacks. If you want to decrease boss' chance of dodging your Expertise Rating should be around 214.
Tools Of The Trade - Weapons
Always remember that Rouge's true aim is - DPS. While developing your rouge character, remember that he should be able to take down any boss as quickly as possible. While using your PvP rogue in battles, you should take any opportunity to execute a wounded opponent and for that you going to need to maximize your DPS.
This is a subject of a constatnt debate what weapons to use. The best combination that have always work the best is slow main hand weapon with high DPS. As for off-hand weapon, in the past fast weapons were prefferd, but since the changes from 3.1 patch, Wound & Instant Poisons now operate on a PPM (proc per minute), it is not so important anymore, unless you invest in Hack and Slash and Combat Potency. Focus on a weapon with good stats and high DPS for your offhand.
Talents
Lets have a look at the most effective and the ones that have highest kill potential:
Killing Spree (20% damage bonus) - the thing to remember is that it lasts for 2.5 sec and it targets every enemy within 10 yards of your position (at the moment when you activated Kiling Spree). Kiling Spree benefits from anything that increases attack damage and auto attack speed. So all you need to do is to stack up as much as you can to maximize that 20% damage bonus.
Blade Flurry - it gives you 20% attack speed increase. It's very usefull when you have 2 targets within your meele range. Second opponent receives damage as well. This talent results in effective damage when coupled with Addrenaline Rush or Killing Spree (all hits strike 2 targets).
Adrenaline Rush - as this talent doesn't do damage by itself, using it in combination with anything that makes you hit harder is very advised (like lets say Evasion and Blade Flurry).
Usefull Attack Tactics
When using cooldowns remember that Blade Flurry -> Adrenalie Rush or Blade Flurry -> Killing Spree are quite good combinations. But Adrenaline Rush -> Killing Spree is not a good idea, because during Killing Spree you are not allowed to use any other abilities and since AR increases energy regeneration rate, you most certainly will run out of energy. So when you have all three available, the best order is: Blade Flurry -> Killing Spree -> Adrenaline Rush
In most cases your attacks will look like this:
Sinister Strike/Garrote/Cheap Shot -> Slice and Dice -> Sinister Strike x 5 -> Eviscerate/Rupture/Kidney Shot
- In case of one mobe:
Sinister Strikex5 -> Eviscerate
or if it's a tougher one:
Sinister Strike -> Slice and Dice -> Sinister Strikex5 -> Eviscerate
- In case of two mobs:
Sap mob 1 -> wait for energy regen -> Garrote mob 2 -> Slice and Dice -> Eviscerate -> back to mob 1 -> Sinister Strikex5 -> Eviscerate
If you get these under control, you can easily develop your own combinations for 3, 4 and even more mobs. Keep it simple.
Conclusion
While there are many classes available, rouge is quite fun and competitive to play. If you choose a good build and learn to use abilities, cooldowns and tacticks effectively, your rogue characters can be very deadly, especially in PvP. There are many powerful abilities and talents to pick from and as you make your way thourgh the game, you will produce your own play style. And that is very important, because without the right play style, rouge is useless.
